streaming problem

Can anyone give me some advice? When I try to stream a video, the buffering gets to around 5% then stops. Sometimes the video starts to play, other times it doesn't. Occasionally the whole video will stream and play but this is quite rare. It happens on a number of sites but the worst are google video and lycos. I was advised to turn off the firewall while the streaming took place but this made no difference, besides, I don't like the idea of the firewall being off. Any ideas anyone? Thanks Mike

it could be many things the first being lack of memory/graphics memory. You also need to have the latest version of either windows media player or whatever the video asks for.
