hi everyone!

hope you can help...

My aunties pc stopped working so she asked me to have a look, it would turn on (fans spin) but for a second then go off. my inital thought was PSU but thats fine, then I thought motherboard but that seems fine as does the memory. I unplugged all expansion cards, all hdd and dvd drives but no change.

this leaves only the processor (AMD athlon 64 X2)

would a dead processor cause this to happen?

thanks in advance

"my inital thought was PSU but thats fine,"

How do you know its fine ? have you tried in anothe PC?

could also be processor or motherboard failure.

yeah i tested it in my pc, also surely if a psu wasnt working the memory safety light on the motherboard wouldnt be on (which it is)

Could be CPU overheating, but more likely to be a dud or failing PSU - the light on the mobo would still come on as it needs so little power.
