Strange Items in Add/Remove Programs

The following four programs

S3 S3Display
S3Gamma2
S3Info2
S3Overlay

show on a new computer with XP Home, in which (with one exception) only tried and trusted programs have been installed. I have however loaded updates from the Microsoft site for Office 97.

The exception was "Easy Office Premium", said to be compatible with Office. After loading, it affected the running of the computer - opening other programs, screens flashing, etc and I quickly removed it. Not all the files could be deleted but these had the usual suffixes - 'dll' etc. I had created a restore point earlier and returned the system to it, after which I found the files referred to above.

Is it safe to remove them? Help please.

they sound like the drivers or enhancements to a graphic card. If you remove them you may not have a display, even if you do have one from the basic drivers you will lose some of the functions associated with the card.

I would leave these alone as they are to do with your display.

Thank you all for your speedy help - I will leave well alone.
