Storing windows backup files on usb stick

Trying to store backup files for my laptop on an 8gb usb2 stick (FAT32) The file size is 5gb and the stick is empty and reformatted. Getting message " Disk in destination drive is full. Insert new disk to continue" Tried another stick with no success. Can copy the files anywhere on the laptop but not to the stick. Have tried on another PC, same results. Any ideas please.

I think you need to Format your USB Stick to NTFS, there is a size limit on FAT32

Thanks, I understand the limit for FAT32 is 32gb. Do you know differently?

The individual file size limit for FAT32 is 4GB.

Thanks to both. The 32gb confused me and I didn't know about the individual file limit. Reformatted to NTFS and all OK. Thanks again .
