Stopping programs starting up

I'm having a problem with a few programs starting up when my pc is switched on.
I've been using Startup Inspector but all of a sudden now, the programs are starting up whether I've told them not to or not.
Is there a simple and foolproof way to do this?

I have tried reinstalling Inspector but it doesn't seem to want to work for me now. Its a shame because I knew what I was doing with this program, lol.

To disable a start up program click here
Or, if you have Spybot Search and Destroy use their start up control tool.

use this click here
go to tools/startup and delete the entries you do not want.
be aware though that when you do this you cannot go back.
it is a one way street.

windows defender tools section lists all start up and running programs. any you don't like, just highlight and remove. makes startup much quicker

That's me sorted. Will try these options as I already have Spybot and Defender installed.
If that doesn't work I'll have a look into msconfig.

Thanks all
