Stopping Messenger sending from outlook

Is it possible and how do you stop Windows messenger linking with Outlook and sending emails from your outlook inbox? I wish to be able to open my messenger inbox and send email directly from there rather than go to the web page (yes I know that is what it will do anyway but it is more convienient to launch it from there than my browser) Also I want the messages from Messenger to show my hotmail address not my outlook address.
I know the link to outlook is to provide functionality but I dont want it!

In Outlook try Tools\Options\Other and uncheck the boxes relating to Messenger. They vary depending on the version of Outlook.

Running outlook 2003 and in the other tab just have the option to
enable the person names smart tag and
Display messenger status in the from field

Have unticked those but no different
