Hi, I want Steam to start when i log on, and have applied in Steam itself to do so, but it still refuses to log on automatically as i directed. Where do I go to enable it to start automatically when my pc is first switched on. I know I know but memory failing me, thanks.

Open Steam - Click on Steam top left - select settings and on Interface tab tick the box run Steam when my computer starts.

Hi Woolwell, Yes I have done that but all I get is an Icon in the task bar, it does not start automatically, or perhaps that is what they mean by placing it in the taskbar?

You do not explain why you need Steam to start up when you 'log on'/boot up your PC but have a look here to see if it is listed in the startup.

1: Start button. 2: Click on Run. 3: type in the box that opens msconfig. 4; See if Steam is listed and that it has a tick in the box before. If so it will mean that it will be starting on boot up of your PC, and the Steam icon will show in the bottom right hand corner.

If you get the Icon place this in the Startup Folder under Startup in Desktop Programs. You may be able to right click drag to Start/Programs.Startup

With the steam icon in the system tray it will be running in the background (look under processes in Task Manager). This is all you require if you want to play a game that requires Steam. If you right click on the steam icon in the systray it will bring up all the options.
