I have a hp compaq nx5000 notebook, i've tried to turn it on but nothing happens. A couple of lights come on but thats it, screen doesn't output anything, fan doesn't appear to start, i get nothing.

Being non technical i was wondering what is wrong with it? and is their anything i can do to fix it?

Hi Drewett,

Is the PC new?

Is the battery charged?

Try connecting it directly via the plug socket

If it does boot up but you get a blank screen you have an Fn key (blue writing) down by the left Alt key. Press this and the F5 and see if anything happens.

No the pc isn't new is a few years old. The battery's charged, i've tried it without the battery through mains, just on battery, still nothing.

I've also tried to plug it into an lcd mointor thinking it might be the screen but nothing.

Its not booting up.
