On one or two occasions I have been presented with the following message on startup:-

CMOS/GPNV checksum bad.

On investigation I found the Date and Time had to be reset.

Anyone explain the possible cause please.

Many thanks.

The CMOS/BIOS battery is being killed.

Replace the battery.

Just replace your CMOS/Clock battery. The symptoms are classic.

Many thanks one and all.I will now delve inside and hopefully decide what type of battery I require.
