Start Up -system information

I have some duplicate programs in my 'Start Up' programs, shown in my System Information.
I see that these are exactly the same, and indeed some programs have more than 2, for example 'desktop desktop.ini' is in 4 separate lines! My main query is: should there be only 1 instance of any program, and if yes, how do I delete those 'spare' duplicate programs?

If you mean start>start up simply delete the extra items and things you dont want running. I myself have nothing in start up as almost every day I run things in different orders. As for desktop.ini it seems to be some sort of customisation.

However if you dont have any customisation in use that you are aware of I would remove it too.
