Start Up & Shutdown have changed

Ever since XP was installed on this computer, startup was just a matter of switch on & wait but now tere is a dialogue box demanding a password - I have not set one!
Shutdown used to get the tree option boxes Standby, Shutdown & Restart but also now gets a dialogue box with shutdown as the default.
I am not aware that I have changed anything.

How can I get it back to where it was. Startup is particularly irksome cus I fetch my coffee during XP's stuff and now I can't.

Did that and it's made things worse!
1. Startup stops with black screen with a minute white symbol in extreme top left corner. I hit "Return" and it continued to:
2. Message "Cannot log on due to account restrictions" and then:
3. Same dialogue box but with Administrator as default. Hit OK becasue I have never created a password. No go so I tried the small number of passwords I use & "password" just in case. Still no go so I changed to "User" & it let me in.

Daren't close down now!!

I used the cmd in the link Brynit gave but checked the box. All back to normal now - no logon and logout gets the 3 options.
Good old windows!!
