I have just re-installed widows XP pro and during the start up sequence I get the option to select xp pro, 2000 or xp, xp pro is highlighted, is this because I have had these other versions on my pc before and how can I stop this happening?

Probably, if that`s the case. The simple solution is to edit your boot.ini file to remove these options.

Are they still on your system?

did your format the partition and reinstall or install to a new partition?

there are no partitions,xp pro was installed over the existing xp and i don't know if there was ever a 2000 installed, also, I searched all hidden folders for the file but it don't exist, I may have to put up with it
