click start-run, type msconfig and hit enter (return). Then choose selective start-up, and untick all prog's you wish to stop booting with windows.

Apply, reboot and all will be well.

doh, too slow.

Go to START > RUN > type MSCONFIG and click OK. Go to STARTUP tab and uncheck Windows Media Player. Click OK.

Alternatively, you may want to go to START > ALL PROGRAMS > STARTUP and if you see Windows Media Player there, just delete the shortcut. This will also stop it appearing at startup.
