StarOffice 7.0 Comments Sought

  Masterspy 11:45 13 Dec 04

I am thinking of buying StarOffice 7.0 to run on Windows XP Home (SP1).

Comments on the compatibility and usefulness of this suite of programs would be appreciated particularly the presentation and database programs. Any known problems?

Many thanks

click here for the PCPro office suites review. The general opinion is that Star is a great package, but if you don't want the adabas database or feel you need developer support the best option is OpenOffice click here

On the Star adabas database, powerful but not easy to use.
Star Open presentation, is dead easy, probably better than Powerpoint. Files can be saved as Powerpoint for export.

It won Editor's Choice at Micro Mart: click here to read the article. For the PCWorld mag review: click here. At Amazon you can read user reviews: click here (scroll down a bit).

Remember, you can TRY before you buy: click here & scroll down to 'Download StarOffice 7 Evaluation Software' (huge file, so will need b'band, the Sun download mgr: click here or a 3rd-party download mgr).

Some purchase info you may find useful if you decide to buy. Presently, can be downloaded direct from Sun for a 50% discount - $39.95 (approx £21): click here. For v7 CD version the cheapest I could (at present) find was on Ebay, £30+P&P: click here. HTH, G
