Hi, does anyone know where I can get Star Office from. I remember having it on a free cover disk but it might not have been PCA. I can't find it now as I usually give all my cover disks to a Charity Shop when I have finished with them.

Thanks for your info but that is a 50.5mb file and although i am on AOL for free that will take about 3hours to download.

Thanks. I will do that and get back to you.

Maybe should have said PC Utilities magazine.

Yep, realised what you meant. I have a friend who has a newsagents and have just rung him to put one aside for me.

I have just had a call from my friend the newsagent. he advises me that, as PC Utilities doesn't sell he does not stock it.

I have been to the PCU web site and tried their search engine for star office but "no matches found".

Do you think you could do me a copy of the CD. I will pay the expenses.

I was under the impression that star office was compatible with Ms Office. but when opening an excel file it does not import the macros???

Thanks Pete

The Excel issue is a weakness, the compatibility is chiefly with Word and it's files.

OpenOffice.org was on virtually every mags CD around a month or two ago, have a look through your old ones.

If you're still stumped, mail me and I'll send you a CD with it on.

Open Office 1.0.1 appeared on the PCA cover disk for December 2002 on CD2 under "40 Great Online Freebies.

It also appears on the cover CD of the latest PCA Tips & Tricks magazine.

It doesn't appear to load Macros or Formulas when opening Excel files. I think you can only read and edit the data.

Hope this helps
