Hi Guys

I'm sure this is an easy one to solve but I can't figure it at the mo.For some reason my comp won't stay in stand by mode,it goes through the process of entering standby but as soon as it completes it all fires back up again, any clues,i'm running on XP Pro.

Hi Madboy

Yes I do have broadband and it is connected via ethernet.

thats the problem then

The BB is "allways on" and therefore reactivates the computer

If you want standby mode you have to unplug the lead from ethernt to the box

Or just live with it really

To be honest i dont see the point in standby, as most computers can boot up in less than a minute, you can get your monitor to go in standby

I was always under the impression that the pc is under the most pressure at start up so leaving in standby decreases wear on components,is this true ?

Thanks for the reply mate.

no its just a pain to restart all the time, however, as said above with computers starting really fast all the time i would just turn it off
