Stalling downloads

  mikel1878 19:02 06 Mar 07

I'm trying to download Windows Media Player 11 but when I get to around 5% the download seems to freeze. The paper symbol moves from the world to the file, the transfer speed is showing between 40 and 120 KB/Sec but the time remaining and the % figure doesn't change. This happens when I try to download almost anything and is very annoying. I have tried on my laptop as well as my desktop and they are both the same. I suppose it is something to do with the modem but I don't know. Any advise would be received gratefully. I have asked this before but got no answers.

Maybe the Microsoft servers are to blame.

Thanks. I managed to get it by cancelling the download and restartng it straight away. I had to do this about 20 times but each time the download started again for a while. The softwarepatch site looks interesting though. It's going into my favourites. Thanks again.

Might be worth getting a router instead of a modem.
You could connect both computers at the same time.
