Do it in SAFE MODE.

Press F8 when your computer is starting and choose SAFE MODE.

Make the change in safe mode.

Hi, I have exactly the same problem with the very same program, ie Print Artist, and it occurs when trying to alter the printer settings just before printing.
My printer is normally set for fast black printing but if I try to change the setting to COLOUR in Print artist, I get the Stack Overflow problem.
I solved this by going into the properties of the printer and changing it to COLOUR before using Print Artist.
I think it is a problem with the program itself and not anything to do with your settings or computer.
