Squiggly line titled file on my Desktop!

  oliverdore 16:39 22 Aug 03

Hi everyone,

I'm not sure why, but every so often, a file titled "~" appears on my desktop. It's contents appear to be my Windows Address Book (at least the contact names). This has got me completely stumped! Has this happened to anyone else, is it related indirectly to something malicious (worm/trojan) and how can I stop it from occuring in future?

Thanks very much,

this bug is well known so dont panic,
as you have deduced it occurs when you reply to an email and the addressee is automatically added to your address book, the 'tilde' file can be safely deleted.
i suggest you make sure your version of OE is up to date as this problem has been cured as far as i am aware.

Thanks a lot guys - even though it is *another* Microsoft bug, it's nice to know it isn't doing anything to wreck my system.

Ahh, another mind at ease! Keep up the good work!
