Squashed Samsung

I have a Samsung Syncmaster T240 monitor. I have set the screen resolution to 1920 x 1200, the optimum resolution. But the picture seems slightly squashed. I have been thro the settings a dozen times & cannot see how to correct this - any ideas?

This is a bit of a puzzle from your description because monitors like the Samsung no longer have controls that alter the “squashness” of pictures. They should either work, or not!

However, one really stupid question: you do have it set to widescreen and not 4:3 don’t you?!

As you have gone through the menus, I would have thought you would have tried this, but...??!!
