seems several of the recent a squared updates require a reboot to take effect, which is unusual for this program ; anyone know why?

Can't remember the original post but wasn't there something about A2 changing how they were allowing A2 free?

you could well be right; I am getting annoyed with the having to reboot for the update to take effect now; however, it does not happen all the time.

I believe the reason is that when A2 looks to update information from a previous download the entire download has to be deleted and the new one installed. I would expect that the reboot is to allow this to happen while the files are not in use.
It's also the reason why so many downloads appear to be repeats of others already downloaded.
