Spybot - XP fast, Me Slow

I have two networked machines - me and the missus - my machine runs Windows XP and hers Windows Me (until I can afford another copy of XP).

When I run Spybot Search and Destroy on my XP machine the checking process takes a few seconds.
When I run the identical programme, the same version, the same updates on my wife's Me machine it takes several minutes to go through all the checks.

Is this normal?

There are many factors that could influence this behaviour.

Are the processor speeds the same? Do both machines have the same amount of memory? Is the file structure almost identical? Is Spybot configured for the identical job on both machines?

Invariably, no two machines are the same, so this behaviour is not unusual. It is not necessarily due to the operating system.
