Spybot S&D — cart before horse?

  Jim Thing 13:10 23 Jul 06

I've used Spybot S&D for several years, updating it manually before scanning my system once a week. As the result of a recent update (I think), the program now launches straight into the scan without giving an opportunity to check for updates first. On the face of it this would seem to be putting the cart before the horse.

I would appreciate advice from anyone who can tell me whether it's possible to revert to the 'first update, then scan' sequence without losing anything beneficial that may have been in the same update.

I'm currently using Spybot version 1.4 dated 2006-07-21 with Windows XP (Home) SP2.

If you go into settings/settings, there are various options under 'automation/program start'; you possibly need to uncheck 'run check on program start'. I would suggest fiddling around with those settings
