spybot or adblockplus slowing down my PC?

Might this be possible?

I've installed both recently and the PC does seem to be operating more slowly, especially with regard to internet connections. I've recently upgraded from Firefox 3.6 to Firefox 4, if that's relevant. I have Windows XP.

Unlikely. Some will say that Teatimer (part of Spybot S&D) puts up too many warnings but I haven't found it so.

Adblock Plus is unlikely to slow your PC down, but Spybot S&D with the Teatimer enabled is recognised as a problem for some. I disabled Teatimer some time ago as it did affect me.

disable teatimer on spybot is too much hassel. also do you have the right spybot there is a dodgy one with similar name a lot of people download in error.

I got rid of spybot some time ago for this reason.
