have just run spybot after seeing many recomendations and have come up with data source object exploit in ie i have all available xp pro updates installed is it safe to remove these
many thanks in advance

its best to leave the exploits of IE and media as they are but make sure of your security settings in in IE and media player where there are options about what information you send out.

the ie exploits are mainly just the recent file lists , you can geneally configure programs to not keep these lists if you are overwhelmed with paranoia but its usully nothing much to worry about. use tweakui to clear nearly all historys on logoff

i wasnt quite sure its a bit more info than adware better safe than sorry as they say will check security settings
many thanks for the advice
