"Are these the right speeds for a 2mb connection?"

There is no such thing as a "right speed" or a "wrong speed".

All ISPs sell their BB packages as "up to .....".

The speeds you achieve will depend on many factors including your distance from the exchange, local contention ratios, the quality of your copper wires and whether you use a modem or a router, amongst others.

i actually spoke to virgin tonight and apparently my
4mb service can only achieve a maximum of 3.5mb

You are doing well for a 2Mb connection, though at times it will probably fluctuate a little.

Any opinions on this test click here ?

Take all speedtester results as guidelines only. I got this the other day click here I am on a 17 Meg connection??? The best test of download speed is a true download from a well sourced server such as Microsoft.

pac73 - That is slightly higher than actually achievable from a 2 Meg connection. What tester did you use?
