Is there any way I can speed up startup by turning off the programs that load in the icon tray at the bottom of the screen?

Thanks

yes go to start - run and type msconfig hit enter and go to the top right hand tab startup. You will see a list with ticks in boxes on the left hand side. I take the tick out of everything except virus checker and firewall. reboot and then put tick in left hand box not to see the message each time you switch on

Click start>run and type msconfig (press enter) then click on startup tab. Uncheck the programs you don't need.

Depends on the programs that are in your system tray.

Most programs will allow you to turn off the load at startup option in their prefferences.
