Speed up XP

XP Home SP3 2.5gigs memory

PC been a bit sluggish letely, including startup.
SO did a bit of rummageing and came up with this...

start>run>msconfig>services

turned off WINDOWS IMAGE AQUISITION

restarted PC and basically cut my startup time in half and all other responses seem to be "nippier2 lets say.
It WORKS for me i hope it will work for those still running XP...

Windows Image Acquisition (WIA): This service is used for transferring images from your camera/web cam or scanner. Leave this service on manual if you have one of those devices, else disable the service.

Some SERVICES are dependent on other Services to run so beware - Don't turn off services which are depended on by other services!

It was a resolve from another forum with reference to your taskbar taking an age to appear, mine now is instant so not sure how the two are related...
