My friend has a laptop with PentiumIII/1.13Ghx processor & 768mb ram. She has recently had installed Win7 & Mic Office 2010.

Is this machine capable of handling these programmes (and others)?

I don't think so but would respect your opinion.

768mb ram looks a bit iffy for all of that.

Might be a bit slow and very slow on start up, I would increase the RAM (if possible). I have run XP sucessfully on 512 of RAM but it was very slow changing tasks.

Thanks people. Think were on the same lines. i would regard it as under specified and it does take time to think when loading progs etc. I reckon she should have stayed with XP although with all the Serv. Packs I reckon that now XP needs a min of 1gb RAM. As she is an occasional PC user she might wish to stay and put up with the current situ, but if she expands her use than a new PC will be needed (the current one can't be upgraded!.
