Speakers Not making any sound

I just built a computer and I pluged in my speakers and they don't make any sound. The computer see's them in the Device Manager but I dont know what to do from there . Any Ideas????

Have you first loaded the Sound Drivers? these are with the Sound Card or if it's onboard sound it will be on the Motherboard CD. Next if you see a Speaker icon near the system clock double click on it and check sound is not Muted

I installed the drivers for the motherboard and it still isnt working. Any more ideas

go to control panel>sounds and audio devices, click on Voice and then click on 'Test Hardware'

Thanks guys one of the... Well i don't know what to call it but its like a spacer in the audio pins. Thank for all the suggestions.

If you have fixed the sound issue Ross can you pleas tick resolved,however if you have not...please read below.

Is this related to the previous thread,if so..did you try the recommended suggestions.

1) if onboard sound,check thats enabled in the bios.

2) if a sound card,check that the onboard sound is Disabled in the bios.

3) have you tried a different set of speakers.
