I get up to 80 spam emails per day which my ISP ( freeserve ) puts into a seperate junk folder which makes it much easier to cope with

I have been puzzled as to why so many seem to be related to various " undelivered emails " type messages which often do not even relate to my email address

what do these spamers hope to gain from it
there are many others that try to sell etc which I understand - jarani

They are emails that purport to come from you and have been returned to you as undelivered.

At some stage either yourself or someone with your email address in their address book has got a virus which has "harvested" your email address.
