Is it wise to remove the uninstall files and how do i do this.

I have had sp2 for some time now and would like to free up some space on c drive. The file is 290mb, your comments would be appreciated.

regards

I remove all those beginning with $NTUninstall in \Windows but only after the updates have been successfully running for about a month, e.g. when the current month's fixes are downloaded, I remove the previous ones.

I just delete them from the Windows folder. This will give you orphaned entries in Add/Remove but by clicking them in Add/Remove Windows removes the entries.

The SP2 uninstall files are normally found in the following folder:

C:\Windows\$NTServicePackUninstall$

If you are happy SP2 isn't causing problems it's safe to delete it.

However the similarly named folder:

C:\Windows\ServicePackFiles

shouldn't not be removed.

..should read:
