Sound when playing DVD

Recently bought combi cd/dvd player. Using Roxio player shows pictures but no sound. Do I need to connect the two pin spdif cable from the dvd played to the on board sound system? If so I have a problem as no SPDIF pins on M/B though shown in M/B Handbook board layout. M/B is ECS L7VMM2. Tried other suggestions shown in forum DVD Sound but with no results.

you have to connect the cable for sound from your cd/dvd drive. If you cannot find the right place on the motherboard, you could get a separate sound card and plug into that. IF you get a sound card, make sure you disable the onboard sound in the bios.

control panel - system - hardware -device manager- right click DVD drive - properties -properties tab - tick box enable digital CD Audio.
