sound from svideo

when i connect my laptop to the video via svideo connection i dont get any sound is this because im using svid to svid connector or is there anything else it could be...

When I was using svideo from an old graphics card to a svideo tv, a few years ago. The sound had to be connected via the sound card to the audio inputs on the tv.

I think this is the same with all pure svideo leads.

SVIDEO means Separate Video. In other words there is no audio, picture only. The picture and sound are separated from each other.You need a separate audio lead for the sound. Connect your Svideo lead to your laptop and the other end to your video recorder, or whatever you are using, then you must have another lead to connect the sound from the laptops "audio out" to the video recorders "audio in". They are usually phono leads. One for Mono and two for stereo.
