The sound of silence

  chesterfield 22:08 06 Oct 03

The sound on my PC has been fine until a short while ago when I noticed that a game I was about to play wasnt making the usual noises as it started up. Ive tested my speakers by playing a cd player through them and theyre fine but I cant get any sound from either cd's that Im playing on the PC or system sounds from the machine itself. There seem to be no problems with any of the hardware or software according to various trouble shooters Ive tried. Any ideas?

Right click the Speaker in system tray properties make shure that things are not muted on play back

Are there any external devices you could connect to the sound card, microphones for example, that you could use for testing?
