sound problems

I uninstalled sound card driver ocasionally.After reinstalled driver.But I have not sound,Windows Media Player does not works,can not play games.Win 98SE.Sound card CMI 8738/C3DX PCI Audio Device.

Go to the device manager and see if there are any conflicts; remove all sound drivers from there anyway as well as from the add/remove progs and reboot.

Then reinstall.

It's most likely that one of your programs, such as WMPlayer or the mixer utility for the C-Media 8738, has had the mute facility enabled or the volume level turned down without you realising.

Double click on the volume control in the Task Bar and check that nothing has been muted or volume levels turned down in error.

click start then click run and type dxdiag and click ok.

click the sound and music tabs and click the test buttons.also click more help and troubleshooter.
