Sound not working on New PC Package

Hi there,

I recently bought a new package from a local computer supplier. Got it home a few days ago, and loaded xP on the thing. Everything went smoothly til it came to sound... doesn't want to go for some reason. I got no clue what is going on, so I though someone here might know. Here are the steps I took so far to try and fix the prob.

Drivers are installed "successfully" (So says XP's Device Manager)

All Audio devices are installed correctly (as above)

Bios settings are great (all enabled)

Volume controls are turned up

Speakers / headphones used are in working order

Been through XP's sound troubleshooter (go through it yourself to find what I've done)

So yeah, the thing I haven't done is checked the insides of the PC... not too experienced in that area, but know a bit. Still rather not do that just in case something does go wrong... the warantee going along with it.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I took ICF's advise and got the drivers (thanks to Fruit Bat for the sound setup thing, but I also went through that earlier). The program that came with the driver had a connection sensing system with it. As it detected no connection, I'm guessing it's an internal problem, which I will get sorted tomorrow.

Is the onboard sound enabled in BIOS?

Sure did, says so in original post... worded a bit funny, but hey.

"Bios settings are great (all enabled)"

Sorry about that
