Sound Missing

  daveac41 07:33 26 May 04

Can anyone help.
My sound has vanished - all speakers etc,are plugged in.
I've tried the Direct X trouble shooter - all it tells me is what I already know - that there's a problem.
In Control Panel > Sounds the "demonstration" arrows are greyed out.
I am running W98SE

Do you know what sound card you have? Or perhaps onboard sound? It seems that the drivers have been corrupted.

Go to the device manager and remove sound drivers from there and reboot; hopefully Windows will reinstall when you reboot. If not, you will need the sound card CD / drivers to do a manual install.

for Everest which will ID your soundcard if you don't know it.
