Hi everyone,

fresh from the trauma of having my processor 'stolen' then 'found' with your help, I am still wrestling with a couple of problems.

Last week I built my first PC - the case has a front panel audio connector that gives me the option of connecting a microphone and headphones - hardly essential but possibly useful occasionally. My motherboard (Asus A7N8X Deluxe) has the option of connnecting a front panel. All seems well!

However, I can't work out which connectors from the front panel go on which pins in the motherboard - because they are labelled differently.

The motherboard front panel connector pins are laid out like this

Two parallel horizontal rows of pins
123 5
12345

There is no fourth pin in the top row

The pins are labelled as follows
Top Row

(1) AGND (2)+5A (3)BLINE_OUT_R (4)(NO PIN) (5) BLINE_OUT_L

Bottom Row

(1) MIC2 (2) MICPWR (3) LINEOUT_R (4)NC (5) LINEOUT_L

There are two cables coming from the case's front panel.

Lead one has three wires in it with named connectors on the end of each wire
black ground
yellow mic - power
white mic - in

Lead two has three wires

Black - single connector labelled Ground

yellow - first connector labelled R – out yellow wire extends from this to another connector labelled R – ret

white - first connector is labelled L - out white wire continues from this connector and is labelled L – Ret

Can anyone tell me what I should stick where? (should I rephrase that? lol).

I Have read the motherboard manual and it is no help.

Thanks again in advance for any help you might be able to give me.

Regards

Andrew :)
