Any ideas anyone on this little problem ?

My sound system has suddenly given up - or has it ? Windows Media Player and Quicktime are no longer producing sound whereas games do. I've done nothing as far as I know to provoke this loss of sound. Obvously the speaker system is working but how do I get the spound back for WMP etc. My system is a Creative SB Audigy, Windows XP...

have you tried uninstalling then reinstalling media player and quicktime.

check your sound settings by double clicking the speaker icon in the taskbar, make sure the mixer device matches your sound card system.

if you dont have a speaker icon, in winxp click start/all programs/accessories/entertainment/volume control.

good luck

It seems to have "fixed" itself. Clicking on the "progress" bar in WMP seems to bring on the sound. But, for some reason, I've lost the default "sound on"
