Ive been back to the shop were I got the computer from and the guy said that my sound driver is missing. I explained to him that Ive been to the ASUS website and dowloaded the latest realtek AC97 driver, the guy turned round to me and said that wont do any good because I actually need to find the driver on my computer but I also need to know were to look for it.
He also said even though in my sound settings it displays realtek AC97 driver, he said that doesnt make any difference.
Where do I look for this on my computer and what does he mean?

Thank You
Chris

Go to Control Panel>System and on the Hardware Tab select Device Manager. Find the Audio Card and right click then select properties. On the Driver Tab select Roll Back Driver. You may need a reboot. Post back if that doesn`t work!

When you downloaded the file did you click on open to install the driver? That was all I did, I still have the downloaded file sitting in 'My Documents' but the driver having been installed locates itself to where it should go.
If not then simply click on the file to open and install the driver.

Run Belarc advisor click here and report back on your Motherboard and anything audio related. You might have the wrong driver. Then we can post back links and see if they are the same as your source.

Multimedia: Realtek AC'97 Audio

Is that the right information? The only other thing that I could think of that is audio related was windows media player.

What Operating System are you using? If it`s XP you would appear to be well behind with updates. Be careful though because the Optional updates may well contain one for the Audio - Realtek AC97 - which from experience is no good! I`ll take a look at the Belarc report if you like - drop me a Personal Message via the Yellow Envelope and I`ll get back to you.
