HelloI have use of an old work computer and there is no sound. I'm trying to find out if there is a sound card but been a computer "numptee" I've failed to find out you tell for certain. The system is Windows XP. We have attached the speakers but there doesn't seem to be any vol control etc on the tool bar at the botom. Many thanks
Have a look in Control Panel>Sounds and Audio ....
Thanks. Have looked at that before but not entirely sure how I tell for certain what the problem may be.Thanks
When you click on 'Sounds and Audio Devices' doesn't it tell you a name of the sound card, at the top of the page just below the the tabs?On mine it says...SB (SoundBlaster) Audigy Audio (B400)
Also, how close did you look - did you tick the box for "Place Volume icon on the taskbar" for starters.
Have a look in Device Manager (click here). Are there any exclamation marks there? If yes, what are these?Download & run the standalone version of SIW click here. What does it say for Hardware > Motherboard (in the right pane)?
Try running this.Go to start>>run>>and type dxdiag and press enter. And click the sound tab at the top. It finds faults.GL
Thanks. Will try and see if these suggestions help.
