Sound card

The sound on my computer went funny recently, no matter what i played or through what speakers it was played it sounded like chipmonks.

I bought a cheap pci sound card today to replace the onboard one i was using.

How do i go about installing it? Do i have to go into the bios and disable anything?

You will need to Disable onboard sound in the Bios before installing the sound card.

Usually you have to go into the BIOS and look for the option for onboard sound. It will have 2 options enable or disable. Select disable and save then let the PC restart, then shut it down and install the card.

Looking in my BIOS (and yours will be different) mine is refered to as AC97 Audio if thats any help and its under Advanced, Onboard Device Configuration. Yours will be different though you'll just have to look for it.
