Sony Vaio video media problems

  PeterPaul 08:18 27 Jan 03

I have a Sony Vaio desktop PCV-RXG408 and a Sony laptop PCG-F707.

The desktop has a DVD-RW drive and the laptop a DVD drive.

Video files made with Hauppauge WinTV USB Nova-t made on the laptop can be transferred to the desktop and burned to DVD. The DVD will then play on Windows Media Player 6.4 on the laptop, but is not recognised by the desktop or Windows Media Player 8.00. Other similar problems lead me to believe that Sony has implemented some new form of copy protection on their desktops (The laptop is over two years older than the desktop)

Any ideas?
