Sony MO disc drive SMO-F541-01

I've just aquired several magneto optical hard drives with the 5.25" cassette still in them.
How do I get them out without destroying the drive or cassette ?
There's a small hole below the lower right of the cassette, like the one on a bare cd player, that would line up with the eject button, if the front was still in place.
On a cd player, a small wire poked in there releases the disc mechanism.
I hesitate to try this until anyone can advise that I wont be causing any damage.
Apart from this, I can't see what is holding the cassette in place.
Many thanks.

Perhaps I need to power it up to release the mechanism ?

Does anyone know what I'm talking about, or am I the only one in the universe with one of these drives ?

Apparently I am.
