Sont DV Camcorder Problem

Hi all,

Have just upgraded my motherboard and processor to a AMD64 from an Athlon XP.

I now can no longer get my sony DV8 camcorder to connect to the pc. When i plug it in to the firewire port the pc beeps to show its detected and the camera appears under 'imaging devices' in the device manager but the window that pops up when you plug it in has no options in it. Previously it showed windows movie maker as an option to capture from the camera.

Any one have any idea?

Does it show in windows explorer? If so, right click on it and see what the options are.

In movie maker 2 have you tried 'Capture from video device' this is what I use to locate my camera?

So all you seem to have lost is the Auto connection. Try opening movie maker and then capture, you should have options there

Have tried to use the options to capture in Movie maker but the camera does not appear as an option and the error message 'invalid class' appears.

Am a bit lost on this one!

Sounds like you need to reload the drivers, for the camera
