After loading xp, my computer screen sometimes turns off and the power and reset buttons dont even work.
SOmetimes when i have logged on to xp the screen will turn off after 5 to 10 mins.
And sometimes it wont happen at all.
I think its my graphics card or do u think it could be anything else.
Just recently my computer started to freeze after i log on to xp - hopefully thats overcome as i done a 'last known good configuration'.
But can anyone help with the other problem please!!!!!!

This is the kind of problem that can only be solved by a process of elimination.

Here is a list of possible causes: -

a)Faulty PSU (Power Supply Unit).
b)PSU is running at maximum capacity, and the overload trip is shutting off the power.

c)CPU is overheating and cutting out.
d)Graphics Card is not tightly seated into the MOB socket.

1st check out (d) above.
2nd check all connections in the case.
3rd make sure all the fans are operating OK.

Once you have made sure it is not a hardware problem, then you can start investigating the software.

Please supply details of your PC.

CutNpaste,

go to control panel-system-advanced-startup and recovery settings, and untick "automatically restart".

This will give you a fault code, in event viewer, and will let you know what the problem is being caused by.
