Software for DVD Writer

  scottishagate 18:20 08 Oct 04

I just got a new Liteon DVD writer. Bundled are
1) Nero Suite
2) Cyberlink PowerDVD.
Instructions are, before connecting new hardware, I should "insert CD and install software".
Do I need to install BOTH these suites. Can I just use one - or are they both required fordifferent purposes?
Grateful for any advice (this is all totally new to me!)

I think nero is for burning dvds &CDs and cyberlink is for playing dvds-so yes you need to install both

as per terry48, nero for burning and cyberlink for playback.

Thanks, Terry.
Main object is backing up data, so Nero is the important thing just now.
Already have a DVD-reader which plays DVDs. So will I still need the PowerDVD for this external drive? Do they all use different software?

The only way is to try it-the dvd reader should be ok. You can always install cyberlink later

Hi, Folks
Just a note to thank for your help and reassurance. Software now installed and the new DVD thingy is a dream machine :-)
Cheers, Mary
