Software to Convert a .avi file to a .jpeg

I'm thinking of buying a Sony DCR HC19 Camcorder. It's fairly cheap so the downside is it doesn't have a memory card to store still photo's as jpegs. Instead if you download it to your PC you get a .avi file.

Is there any freeware or cheap software out there that's easy to use for converting .avi's to .jpeg's? Cheers.

An AVI is a video file and a jpeg an image format.
So you will need a video decompiler such as this click here

Virtualdub is one excellent freeware for this task. It is also one of the best free video editing software out there.
