Smart Media card Error

  jack 21:51 23 Jun 03

The Smart Media card in a camera - showed 'Card Error' and would no longer function or Format.
Taken out of the camera and formated in the PC OK, and accepted files and read them back to the PC.

But picture files loaded onto the the card in EXIF format for camera and AverMedia Slide show
although played back on computer OK still showed 'CARD ERROR' on the devices.

Is this card dead or can it re revived?

Don't know which camera you have but with my Olympus 220 if the card is altered by the PC then the camera shows 'Card Error' and the card has to be reformated by the camera.
If won't format in camera then take camera and card to supplier and get them to sort it out for you.

You should only format in the camera, the format will be different so if you cannot format it now in camera I would it's not much use other than as a large floppy disc to Youse to transfer files on

Further to this puzzle I seem to hear in the back of my mind
Is this feasable?
F-Disk is used on an old H/disk being prepared for re-formatting.
Could this be made to work with removable media?
